I’ll feed you bread so you will grow. Each day, I’ll give you one sweet kiss And promise you I’ll never miss! But on the day, my dear little fish, You grow too big for your small dish.

I will take you to the sea, And in one move, I’ll let you free. How you’ll be so glad to go, But dear little fish, I’ll miss you so. I will wait all through the day To see if you turn’ round this way. And I will wait all through the night,

Oh! I will throw my only hat To see if you will bring it back And the first joy that I will see, Is when you bring it home to me. Your back will be my favorite boat, And together we will sail and float.

1 / 28

Over the river and cross’ the sea, To a small island with a palm tree. There we will both live and play, “Catch the hat” by night and day. And I will know your love for me For you came home when I set you free.

the reasons:

American racial discrimination dates back to European slave trade period.A report on human rights situation in the United States issued on Thursday said that racial discrimination is a deep-rooted social illness in that country as blacks and other minor ethnic groups are living in the bottom of the American society

1. Race should not be distinguished by fit and unfit quality, but social development should be distinguished by fast and slow speed. When a nation’s civilization is higher than another nation’s, the former will have a feeling of superiority over the latter. This is one of the main causes of human historical racial discrimination.

2. regardless of American black or other colored people like non-lineage American.Latin lineage American and Spanish lineage American, they are

suffered from discrimination, partly because of jealousy. The higher people’s social class status is, the more narrow their hearts are, which it is the same as Jews masscured by German. Because Jews are very rich and clever, which is envious conditions, but some people show it in a radical way. 3. The living conditions and educational level of black people are far lower than Causasian, causing vicious circle and enlarging the distance.

Notes:

Born:

e.g. The baby was born last Friday.

e.g. He is a famous black musician.

e.g. My mother is scared to fly in a plane.

e.g. My little dog died.

James Langston Hughes: February 1, 1902 - May 22, 1967)

Born in Joplin, Missouri, James Langston Hughes was a member of an abolitionist family. He was the great-great-grandson of Charles Henry Langston, brother of John Mercer Langston, who was the first Black American to be elected to public office, in 1855. Hughes attended Central High School in Cleveland, Ohio, but began writing poetry in the eighth grade, and was selected as Class Poet.

One of Hughes' finest essays appeared in the Nation in 1926, entitled \"The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain\". It spoke of Black writers and poets, \"who would surrender racial pride in the name of a false

integration,\" where a talented Black writer would prefer to be considered a poet, not a Black poet, which to Hughes meant he subconsciously wanted to write like a white poet.

Langston Hughes was a prolific writer. In the forty-odd years between his first book in 1926 and his death in 1967, he devoted his life to writing and lecturing. He wrote sixteen books of poems, two novels, three collections of short stories, four volumes of \"editorial\" and \"documentary\" fiction,

10 / 28

twenty plays, children's poetry, musicals and operas, three autobiographies, a dozen radio and television scripts and dozens of magazine articles.

Notes: Word bank:

e.g. Let's sweep away the broken glass. Joe's watch is broken.

In 1907, a church service was held on her mother's death anniversary, Miss Anna M Jarvis' love for her mother moved other people. Besides, she wrote letters to important person suggesting a public holiday to honor all mothers. In 1913, the United States Congress agreed that the second Sunday in May be made Mother's Day.

A hungry fox saw some fine bunches of grapes hanging from a vine that was trained along a high trellis, and did his best to reach them by jumping as high as he could into the air.

But it was all in vain, for they were just out of reach: so he gave up trying, and walked away with an air of dignity and unconcern, remarking, “I thought those grapes were ripe, but I see now they are quite sour.” Translation:

6. Heaven and Hell

A man spoke with the Lord about heaven and hell. The Lord said to the man, “.” They entered a room where a group of people sat around a huge pot of stew. Everyone was famished, desperate and starving. Each held a spoon that reached the pot, but each spoon had a handle so much longer than their own arms that it could not be used to get the stew into their own mouths. The suffering was terrible.

“.” The Lord said after a while. They entered another room, identical — the pot of stew, the group of people, the same long-handle spoons. But there everyone was happy and well-nourished.

“I don’t understand,” said the man. “Why are they happy here when they were miserable in the other room and everything was the same?” The Lord smiled. “Ah, it is simple,” he said. “Here they have learned to feed each other.”

9. M-O-T-H-E-R

by Howard Johnson

“M” is for the million things she gave me, “O” means only that she’s growing old, “T” if for the tears she shed to save me, “H” is for her heart of purest gold, “E” is for her eyes, with love-light shinning, “R” means right, and right she’ll always be. Put them all together, they spell “Mother”, A word that means the world to me.
